'After I Do' by Taylor Jenkins Reid

From the BLURB: When Lauren and Ryan’s marriage reaches the breaking point, they come up with an unconventional plan. They decide to take a year off in the hopes of finding a way to fall in love again. One year apart, and only one rule: they cannot contact each other. Aside from that, anything goes. Lauren embarks on a journey of self-discovery, quickly finding that her friends and family have their own ideas about the meaning of marriage. These influences, as well as her own healing process and the challenges of living apart from Ryan, begin to change Lauren’s ideas about monogamy and marriage. She starts to question: When you can have romance without loyalty and commitment without marriage, when love and lust are no longer tied together, what do you value? What are you willing to fight for? This is a love story about what happens when the love fades. It’s about staying in love, seizing love, forsaking love, and committing to love with everything you’ve got. And above all, After I Do ...

Waiting on Wednesday (137): The Queen's Choice + The Wicked We Have Done

I'm not sure what to put here. *laughs* Anyway, I heard Korea's had the first snowfall yesterday (my friends who live there can't stop saying how cold it was) and, well, the temperature in Manila's starting to be cooler especially in the mornings and at night. Ahhh, looks like Christmas is just around the corner. Come here 2014, I need a new wave of awesome books to read!

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine

Summary (from Goodreads):

Magic was seeping out of me, black and agonizing. I could see it drifting away. The magic that would let me pass the Road to reach home again.

When sixteen-year-old Anya learns that her aunt, Queen of the Faerie Kingdom of Chrior, will soon die, her grief is equalled only by her despair for the future of the kingdom. Her young cousin, Illumina, is unfit to rule, and Anya is determined not to take up the queen's mantle herself.

Convinced that the only solution is to find Prince Zabriel, who long ago disappeared into the human realm of Warckum, and persuade him to take up his rightful crown, Anya journeys into the Warckum Territory to bring him home. But her journey is doomed to be more harrowing than she ever could have imagined.

Why I'm waiting for The Queen's Choice:

Because Cayla Kluver is awesome? I absolutely love her Legacy series (one of my recent favorites, actually) and I am just so happy that she has another fantasy book coming out and soon! My favorite fae series happens to be published by HQN Teen as well, so I'm definitely on the look out for this book to see if it's going to be another awesome story about the Fae.

Summary (from Goodreads):

Evalyn Ibarra never expected to be an accused killer and experimental prison test subject. A year ago, she was a normal college student. Now she’s been sentenced to a month in the compass room—an advanced prison obstacle course designed by the government to execute justice.

If she survives, the world will know she’s innocent.

Locked up with nine notorious and potentially psychotic criminals, Evalyn must fight the prison and dismantle her past to stay alive. But the system prized for accuracy appears to be killing at random.

She doesn’t plan on making friends.

She doesn’t plan on falling in love, either.

Why I'm waiting for The Wicked We Have Done:

Can someone just give me a copy of this book now? It sounds so, so amazing. And that's just the summary. I don't touch anything New Adult since I have my own reservations for the said genre/type of book, it's either YA or Adult Romance for me, but coming across this book and finding out it's NA makes me think of giving it a try. Aside from the madly gorgeous cover? Who can resist a story about a girl, mistaken for a murderer trapped in an obstacle course with other 9 notorious criminals? I can't, so I am definitely excited for this book to come out!

MWF and ROMA 2016

Hello Darling Readers! Have you noticed - I'm slowly getting back into the swing of reviewing things? Yay for me! I have missed updating the blog :)  Just thought I'd interrupt the (now!) regularly scheduled reviewing to share some good news and events that are coming up ...  I am very lucky to have FIVE session at this year's Melbourne Writers Festival - I get to chair events for the enviably talented duo of Vikki Wakefield and Claire Zorn , plus two authors you might have heard of - Rainbow Rowell and David Levithan ? I get to ask Clementine Ford and Amy Gray their opinions on opinion writing - I think they'll have a few. Myself and Myke Bartlett will talk all about reviewing , and then I'll be teaming up with Sonia Nair for a fun and intense workshop on exactly how to write digital content and get your work published. Phew!  All details of my MWF session can be found here:  http://mwf.com.au/writer/danielle-binks/ And in other news ... I'm a finalist in the ...
